My first week in Lavafire was great. I got to meet several employees, learned some new technologies, and got a glimpse of what it feels to be in an office.
My first day in Lavafire was a bit boring. I arrived at the office super late because I have a class at 9am-11am. Then I almost got lost on my way to the office. After a very long walk, I finally arrived at the office located at the 7th floor of Cybermall. I was introduced to the employees and I was assigned on project together with an immediate supervisor. I was given some guidelines about the workflow in the office. I was also given some introduction about the project we will be working on for 3 weeks. Then I installed some applications on my laptop which we will be using for program development and I was given an overview about these technologies. Later that afternoon, I was given my timesheet. Out of the 5 hours I spent in the office, only more or less 1 hour was credited.
I was pressured on my second day in Lavafire because I was given my first task by my supervisor. I used PHP for this task. It wasn’t difficult for me to code in PHP since we used it for our project last semester. I was pressured because my supervisor kept saying that there was no pressure on what I’m doing. And so I really didn’t get the task finished.
My third day on Lavafire was very nice. I was given another task by my supervisor. I learned how to use Soap and we discussed about the difference between a database and webservices. I was also exposed to some CSS and Javascript codes. And though I didn’t get to finish the whole task, I think I learned so many things and at least I’ve done half of my task.
