No Time to Waste!

April 10-11, 2008

By Thursday, I went to work with the solution for the case study already on my mind. All I had to do is to implement this solution.

The task is to create the database for the system specified and to generate the outputs of the reports asked in iReport. It took me time to create the database and to explore iReport. And again, I did something with scott! I dropped all his tables! But, anyways…

I really had fun with iReport (image below). It is a documentation tool which generates the results from your queries and the reports can be in different file formats such as PDF. And it’s not just a simple report. It has many functionalities and templates which can manage images, charts, etc. You can also design your own layout. But as a beginner, the reports that I generated were just simple. <hehe>

I was already finished, but I am not that confident with the solution, so the next day I implemented solution number two! Before I left and celebrated because it’s Friday <TGIF!>, I gathered my materials in preparation for our presentation which was rescheduled to Tuesday of the next week. We are required to make a presentation in any form we like (Flash, Powerpoint, etc) on how we came up with our database like presenting ERDs. I made a PowerPoint presentation.

Well, that’s it for my first week. Yehey! I survived!

Lesson learned: Don’t panic. Just do your best. ^_^

P.S. To all those special people I consulted during my first week, THANK YOU! You know who you are. No need to enumerate. Haha. Madami kayo. ^_^
