VB take two!

Right. So I’m almost done with the functionalities of the different tools of the main part of the project that we were asked to do. I’ve begun the file handling stuff and done a lot only to realize that we were using the wrong program. We were using VB.net but were required to use only VB6. So we immediately shifted before we proceed any further.

This is VB6
vb6

and this is VB.net
vb.net

Back up files… Uninstall VB.net IDE… Install VB6 IDE…

Working with VB.net is a LOT easier than with VB6. Although there’s not too much difference. It’s just more user friendly and more convenient. It’s like an improved VB6. But ok… We began the GUI part once again. Translating the code from .net to VB6 was simpler than i expected. Other methods were not allowed but alternates were pretty easy to find. So, i need not start from scratch in coding the events.

I ended up finishing the functionalities of some elements in the GUI. I have less work to do now since Bill wanted a relatively huge part of it removed. He forgot he told us that users could regenerate serial numbers accompanied by three levels of ensuring the regeneration which mei ann was doing. Sooo… her work had to be scrapped as well. I tried arguing with Bill about this. I told him that was what he told us. But i guess he forgot he said it at the first briefing of the project. The second briefing, there were additional stuff we needed to put in. With the additional specifications, i guess the removal of the regeneration part was justifiable. Plus, now he explained why he did not want that part in. So im just following orders. And I know Bill knows best.. =]

We left the office past 6pm. Everyone was about to leave and they kept reminding us of the “second shift” at the office.

Ah, yes… weekend!

looking forward to the weekend,
