This week is still about the serial number generator..
Monday was the debugging stage. We were checking our codes for possible errors that we have not handled. Me, checking on the serial number generation and Mei Ann on the log in and the zero fill procedure. We checked on the HID serial number format. This particular project was following the 26 bit Weigner format and have adjusted our code to follow this standard.
I’ve also started to further simplify and optimize the code.
Tuesday, Bill asked to see what we have done so far. I did a demo on our project and a bug was found [hahaha]. Embarrassing. But that was not a major problem. I actually have resolved that but given that i was still fixing my code that time, I used the older backup i had since it did the basic functionalities with a few input errors not caught. So anyway, he was okay with how the program ran. He presented once more the issue of regenerating serial numbers but decided that it was not needed. The issue on backing up the data was also dealt with and the team decided on flat files. Given that, more functionalities were needed such as printing the files and some field synchronizations. So Mei Ann and I started work on those. Bill also requested for the main screen to be larger. But my problem is how to make it larger given the few contents it had in it.

Wednesday. We’re almost done. Problem on the print preview and i still have not made the main screen larger. Im still thinking about how i should do it. Mei Ann and I have combined the forms we were doing and it’s working well. yey! Just a few more things to polish.
We left particularly early today. The sun was still up… that’s something new..
