Closing time.. yes today is my last day!!! I’m done with my summer ojt! Lots of memories will be kept especially that the company I’ve had was the coolest company ever. It’s proven and tested. LAVAFIRE balances work and fun, thinking and laughing, labor and rest. Yes that is lavafire. For the past 1 and a half month of staying there I saw and felt what it’s like working in a real office environment but with a twist of lots of fun and enjoyment. It was of course hard since you have to wake up very early and then go home late (which I as a student am not used to doing). But this what they call practicum gave me that sense of discipline in the things that have to be done and finished in a given span of time. First I thought that everyday my computer will be my only best friend, code here, code there, but in lavafire they don’t allow us to face the computer for one WHOLE day. My officemates, or should I say my very funny officemates make it a point that there will be a time that we will take a break and do some stretching and “chikahans” and of course “tawanans”.
During my stay, I’ve had two company bonding or what they call their monthly team building (which according to them strengthens their relationship as officemates). This team building I am referring to was their company bowling, which for them is a form of relaxation from a month of sitting in their desks and coding. It’s always played as boys versus girls and a consequence was dealt beforehand. This for me is one of the things that other companies don’t traditionally offer and makes lavafire really one of a kind.
Also, my officemates were very accommodating and super funny. I think that’s because of their age range. Most of them are fresh grad or if not, just graduated 2 or 3 years ago. So we sure share the same trips, making it easier for me to adapt and work with fun.=)
And today, we (together with my co-interns) treated our officemates as a sign of our gratitude and farewell party. We bought a bucket meal and sodas and cake for the whole office together with our cool boss. Indeed this experience was really fun and unforgettable despite of all my hardships in doing the controller tests. Thank you lavafire.=)
